september THIRTY
Hmm, today. Geography test was hard. That just blows my mind because it shouldn't be. Geography=should be easy. But that was all made better by the baseball playoffs. I got out of class at 3 in time to see the 9th inning of the Twins-Yankees. Then watched the Florida Marlins Walk Parade of Barry Bonds. Someone should start a telethon, seriously. Pledge your dollars for each time Barry walks. It will help KWS Foundation (Kids with Syndromes). And Barry could contribute to the cause too. Just cut back on the steroids and give them to the kids with weak immune systems. Well, maybe not. I can see it now. Wheelchair rage. No good. Thank god I didn't have to listen to Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. Well, now that I think about it, I did. I just had music on instead though. Cubs winning tonight just caps the night nicely.
The proliferation of the ipod culture continues today with the addition of my brother to the ranks. I told you about Tim getting a new one, well, he's selling that one to chris and getting ANOTHER one. the new version. lucky punk. now we'll have to throw playlists back and forth. fun times.
There was an article in the Daily Nebraskan yesterday (very funny by the way) from Dave Deihl who described his 24 hours in Hattiesburg MS as a "living hell." There should be a "living hell list". Complete with dates, times places. Things one should never experience and thus could serve to warn people of impending dangers beforehand. I'm in, is anyone else?
Is it ever NOT ok to be a 28 point favorite in a football game? if you're betting, take the under. #1 defense in the land. NUMBER SEVENTY-SEVEN offense. ( 77! ) Number 8 in the country? In the words of Lee Corso -- "Not so fast, my friend."
Why is Kazaa so slow?!
My new music picks...Well, not that they're so spectacular, but they're new. Basically, the jury's still out.
Saves the Day -- In Reverie
Prefuse 73 (very cool, get some)
Ludacris -- Chicken and Beer (just got it tonight. some will be envious.)
some Ted Leo song...MTV plays this?!
Strokes "12:51" (new song, same old Strokes)
Something Corporate "Down" and "Space" (can't wait. 10/21 come soon.)
I'll leave you with those. Tennis and indoor soccer tomorrow. We need a team name. And official colors. And a mascot wouldn't hurt.
september TWENTY EIGHT I guess we'll just call this the weekend update. Friday was pretty eventful. Vraspir's car got stolen. Probably one of the best stories of all time. He wakes up and his car's gone. He thinks the roommate took it to class and forgot to tell him.
He goes to classes all day long. Talks to the roommate in the evening. "No, Vraspir, I don't have your car. Why would I take it?" Crap. So he calls his aunt and uncle and they all go down to the police station and file a report. Later on that same night, he gets a call
from the police. They found the car. The guy who had stolen it got pulled over after running a red light. So, Ben went and picked it up and all was well again. What a day. The day also included a good ( cross your fingers ) history test and a terrible story out of the
bennington homecoming football game. I actually didn't hear about this until saturday, but it happened friday. They paraded all of the candidates out on the field like they always do at the football game. Announced the winners and crowned the lovely king and queen. ( oh,
they're so cute together! ) and the game starts again. twenty minutes later over the loudspeaker of the stadium, "we have an announcement to make. we mistakenly ANNOUNCED THE WRONG WINNER for homecoming king." that has to be the most ultimate bonehead move of the century.
1. think if you're the kid with the crown on. 2. think if you're the kid who is getting the crown. 3. think if you're the person who has to announce it. 4. think if you're the person in charge of organizing the event. 5. friends and family...holy cow. there are so many bad
things in that situation. my mom brought up a good point. why would they even tell anyone? keep that one a secret. wow. they must have used the punch card voting ballots. other weekend happenings...Cubs win! Cubs win! I can't believe I'm excited about that. Kansas wins, too! I'm halfway to rooting for Texas. I think I need
counseling. Today was golf in the morning. OK, so my hopes for the PGA tour are on hold at the moment. I shot a 90. and that's why i hate golf. i will go out and keep playing because i look at the shots i hit and KNOW i can shoot in the 70s...a putt here, a slice there.
it can improve! so i'll be back on the course later this week. after golf, i came home and had 2 reese's PB cups and sat down and heard the phone ring and got up and left for my baseball game. we won. 2 hits. good return. abbey won her soccer game too. AND scored. GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!
sorry, i didn't just do that. SOMEBODY FIND CHRIS A HOMECOMING DATE! he's a senior, 5'11, brown hair ( brown! ) and enjoys long walks in the park, photography and painting his chest at football games. he's a catch! call him!

september TWENTY FIVE Where's my watch? NIXON is dragging their feet with 'the dork.' i'm getting a little bit agitated. huskers win. cubs lose. marlins win. delgado, dang. it's just not the same to have football on
a thursday night. it's like we're in the mountain west or something. you telling me we couldn't have played this in the afternoon on saturday and been on espn+ or something? it's nice to hear lee and kirk talk about how
good the defense is for 3 quarters, but it was so incredibly boring, it seemed like a waste of an evening almost. plus, now what am i going to do on saturday for excitement? washington state and oregon? please...so that's a
bit of a letdown. anyhow, i have a test in history tomorrow so i came home and studied. which leaves me something to do in the afternoon tomorrow...read magazines...the new COMPLEX is out...then i'll move to the SI ON CAMPUS...
probably finish off the day with URBAN OUTFITTERS catalog and then surf the net for some new clothes and shoes...sounds like a plan...my book still awaits as well...CHUCK PALAHNIUK "LULLABY." ('fight club' author). if the weather
is as nice as it was today, i'm gonna have to call some people and play some basketball or football in the good old outdoors. ok, goodnight. i'll leave you with a new playlist to contemplate...

september TWENTY FOUR 94 on the econ test. woo. AND, come to find out, I accidentally left a question blank. and I had the right answer. not bad, i say. made up for the rest of today which was semi-dull. this afternoon/evening was made better by:
(1.) reading the bill simmons mailbag column on espn page 2. this question in particular from a reader sticks out in my mind. "are jay williams and grant hill now officially the best backcourt in wheelchair basketball history?" this comment is seriously tip-toeing the line between politically incorrect (VERY incorrect) and insanely funny. i laughed hard for a second or two and then actually apologized out loud because i felt bad.
(2.) hearing that tim is getting an ipod. this makes not only my day instantly better, but his life just took a step forward by about 20 percent. if you don't have one you have no idea how much you are missing out on. please buy one. i'm begging you. (see below for more ipod...)
(3.) finding another classic george w. bush quote "the vast majority of imports come from outside of the country." (YALE. What were you thinking?! *Yale responds collectively by lowering eyes to floor and silently shaking head in disbelief.* or possibly "misbelief" if you ask the President.)
(4.) kicking crap out of frat-guy on cather-pound tennis court. score one for the residence halls. and PS...knee braces don't win any sympathy in my book. you pansy. 12-3. it was a drubbing. AND the jerk didn't give me a new can of balls! (it's a rule. he broke it. delta upsilson=blacklisted.)
(5.) quote of the day (besides those listed above): "Ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT Comedy Central, I swear." -- mediator of California governor's debate... has the recall jumped the shark? perhaps. gary coleman, definitely. your fifteen minutes are long gone, midget.
(6.) dear sports illustrated, how is oregon "rich"? also, bonus points for SI on Campus. it's about time you did something cool for me. espn is killin ya. even rick reilly is gettin old. i'll take dave barry, anyway.
(7.) compilation has begun on "new and improved (version 2.0) I Hate List." question: does "hate" put me in violation of the patriot act?
I'm in a list mood (can you tell?) so let's try something new...
RANDOM IPOD PLAYLIST #1 (turn on, set random, push play) this might be fun...
1. "Black" PETE YORN (i like this idea already)
2. "You Know How I Do" TAKING BACK SUNDAY (positively indifferent)
3. "Simple Pages" WEEZER (OK, still quality)
4. "If" THE NEPTUNES FEAT. NELLY (Nelly + Pharell + Chad Hugo = can't go wrong. Decent, disappointing.)
5. "Lucky" RADIOHEAD (tom yorke is overrated.)
6. "Amen Omen" BEN HARPER (better than dave matthews)
7. "A Goodnight's Sleep" THE STARTING LINE (good walking to class in the morning song)
8. "Raise Up" PETEY PABLO (North Carolina, this one's for you. spin it like a helicopter.)
9. "Commerce, TX" BEN KWELLER (he's hooked on oriental drugs)
10. "When It Hurts So Bad" LAURYN HILL (new CD time please, ms. hill.talk to wyclef, leave pras home.)
11. "Movies" ALIEN ANT FARM (what? they sing something besides smooth criminal?)
12. "Lonestar" NORAH JONES (wonderful.)
13. "Young'n" FABOLOUS (Holla back.)
14. "The Good Life" WEEZER (?! out of 2120 songs...come on now. i guess i'll still listen)
15. "Fresh Interlude" WYCLEF JEAN (F-R-E-S-H..."random" isn't working so well)
16. "Monkey Wrench" FOO FIGHTERS (haven't heard this in a while.)
17. "Get Back" LUDACRIS (Luda make ya skull crack.)
18. "Tender" BLUR (download this. replace all radiohead with blur.)
19. "Bowl of Oranges" BRIGHT EYES (growing on me...)
20. "It's All About the Money Now" NELLY (too ridiculous to comprehend, nelly again?)
21. "Saturday" LUDACRIS (what have i done to deserve this?...continue until no repeats.)
22. "Again I Go Unnoticed" DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL (good finisher.)
OK, so overall, I'm a bit disappointed in my ipod tonight. Hardly random. UNTIL NEXT TIME...
september TWENTY TWO There's some new stuff on the symbols page. Although it looks much the same, a totally new photo alphabet is there using no real
letters at all, just stuff that looks like letters. At the top there's my latest design project where we had to create a mood using only 5 letters per square. If you want the
explanation, let me know and I'll make it less confusing. I did very well (fingers crossed) on my econ test this morning and then only missed one on the history quiz an hour later.
Good day. Tonight was just some homework and I got the new COMPLEX magazine at the union. So, I'm off to check that out. Night. september TWENTY ONE Sheesh. What a weekend. Let's see. Studied on Friday night. Got up about noon on Saturday and then went to play golf with Mike at Fontenelle. Lost
a couple balls on the second hole. Another on the 4th. Then the drama started. We get up to the 5th green only to find an 8 year old girl gushing blood from the face. Cell phones
and a Mount Michael golf towel got the situation under control, AFTER some strange behavior from her dad who decided she didn't need medical help. He shrugged off the ambulance
because they "knew a doctor in the neighborhood." Bizarre. Finished golfing with four straight pars. Must have been just what I needed, a shock to take my mind off of my bad play.
So, hopefully she's OK, because my golf game sure recovered in a hurry. Then went to Taco Bell and Mike's to see his new dog. Coincidentally, he is named Wrigley and is definitely no
bigger than (a.) Sammy Sosa's steroid pill OR (b.)Mark Prior's left calf muscle. After that I danced the night away at a wedding reception. And enjoyed it! Sunday involved getting up at
7 in the morning to drive to Lincoln for a baseball game that was cancelled. So we went to IHOP and Wal-Mart instead. Studied some more, slept and watched football. Good Sunday. Monday's discussion topics: 1.FOOTBALL. Nebraska is ridiculously up to number 11 in the ESPN/Coaches Poll. OK, I know Frank is voting for Number 1 every week, but who else could possibly think we're that good?! All of the
coaches we have played KNOW BETTER. They're thinking somewhere in the 20s. It's a conspiracy by the BCS conferences: Do as much as you can to keep MAC teams down. Michigan and K-State. HA! Antonio
Perkins and Rashaun Woods, uh, good games. Next week must watch: Kansas vs. Missouri ( ? ) Can this be possible? AP, you promised the goal posts would come down with a Jayhawk win, so I'm gonna be
watching for you to be front and center in the celebration. Oh yeah, and the Huskers play this week. 27-7. Win. That should get us some first-place votes next weekend. 2. AMAZING FACT: If you take a deck of 52 cards and shuffle it, odds are that the order of cards you shuffle has never been produced. EVER. BY ANYONE. ANYWHERE. That's unbelievable. (I read it in
my economics book. The number of possible combinations is 52 x 51 x 50 x 49 x 48 (all the way down, 52!) ....... it works out to something like 8 with 67 zeros after it...(also, the number of times MTV has shown the new John Mayer
video this week.)
september NINETEEN It's time to study. AND I have to go to Omaha this weekend. It's going to be a long one. No going out for me. Whatever. I can handle it for once.
I think I'm playing golf with Ciaccio tomorrow. Then the wedding in the afternoon/evening. I don't even know. OK, it's late. I'm in Omaha so call me.
september EIGHTEEN OK, so I skipped a day, so sue me. (Of updating the site. Don't worry mom and dad, I went to classes.) Today was good. Cold this morning (and right now, by the way). Then it warmed up just a bit and was a perfect fall
day. Only problem, it's still summer. Found out I don't have Political Science on Tuesday. Good Deal. Then had Geography. Went down to SouthPointe after that and spent some money
on a new cup. Yeah, I know, big excitement there. Then came back and skipped dinner because I was still full from Taco Bell lunch. Went to a journalism dept. documentary about Cuba
with Jenni and Adam at 7. Heard some Cuban music afterwards, very very cool. Came back to the dorm in time to have Adam to go Samurai Sam's for some chicken teriyaki (SP?) Baseball
practice at Cook at 1015. It's gonna be a good time. Watch for me on a campus near you this spring. (35 guys make the travel squad. Missing THAT would be the ultimate career ender.)
Showered. Studied. Night's over. Other Stuff: 1. Congrats to Chris and Mike (mostly little bro, no offense Mike) on getting nominated for Homecoming King. Too bad I'm a year ahead. It would have been cool to pass the crown on.
Assuming he wins of course. :-) 2. Maruchan Ramen is head and shoulders above Top Ramen by Nissen. Seriously, it's like night and day here. Trust me, I eat ramen twice a day. Maruchan is Barry Bonds and Nissin is
a belt-high changeup. Can anyone else vouch for this please? I'm seeking confirmation.
3. I think I have finally figured out why we play our baseball games in Waverly....Shakers.
4. Looking for an alternative to jazz? Try Cuban. Buena Vista Social Club should cure all of your music blues. Well, at least the ones Miles Davis can't cure anymore. I'm officially
moving to Havana. Adios. Speaking of, which is a more newsworthy event...the replacement of the Pope or Fidel Castro?
5. It's almost Friday. Too fast.
6. News flash: Lindsey Lanoha is dating Jim Hinrichs. They fit well. Small world.
september SIXTEEN So, that was NOT what I had in mind. Whatever. It turned out ok anyway, though. Weather was just as nice. Watched Rules of Attraction tonight after
ordering pizza. Wow. Animal house on coke. Who could have known that James Van Der Beek ever could escape the Dawson stage of his life. Well Shawn Bateman kicks little Dawson
sqaure in the teeth and doesn't even regret it. He is possibly even scary. Not as scary as the scar-faced guy from Grease who races John Travolta at the end, but scary none the less.
Also, the movie has possibly the coolest 5-minute segment ever captured on film. Victor's trip to Europe. Best part...the less-than-a-second-long shot of him "leaning on the Eiffel
Tower. I think I'm going to recreate that scene tomorrow with the state capitol building. Normally, we would be three days away from a football game, sigh...What's the spread? I'm sure
it's like 10-15. Take the high side, people. We'll be throwing more. Jammal might even get to double digits in attempts this game. Bob Devaney is rolling over in his grave. SERIOUSLY, who
would have ever thought people would get mad about NOT SEEING ENOUGH PASSES?! I think we're in the twilight zone. Also along for the weird ride are the Marlins and Phillies. In other
sports news, the WUSA (womens soccer league, jeez get with it!) has folded after 3 seasons. Your guess is as good as mine as to how they even survived THAT long. Sleep tight. And watch
out for Isabel.
september FIFTEEN Today was easily the best weather day of the year so far. Unbelievable blue sky and lower 80s for temperature. That picture on on the front page is one I took after lunch. It's your job to find out where exactly it was taken. The lady from the Times was a bit of a disappointment. She was interesting but chose to use her time to speak on two Supreme Court cases instead of her life as a NYTimes journalist. It was a bit sleepy. Hal Daub is coming to town tomorrow, though, so, I'm thinking that will be worth the trip. What else is tomorrow? Oh, yeah, new Saves the Day CD and I found out that if I get it at Homer's downtown, I get a free 7" record! Cool. Went to the rec today and got about as sore as I have ever been in my life...Tomorrow is going to be one stiff afternoon. Additional thought on the newspaper lady: Why is it that reporters are always about the most unattractive people you've ever seen in your entire life?! It's the New York Times! They should be hiring hot 20 year olds. Get rid of the old hags already. Put them off in a corner and make them edit stories and sell ads. Unfortunate but true. Also unfortunate, I thought I would surprise my mom by getting her a record that I thought she wanted. Turns out I bought the wrong one...Wonderful. So much for that idea! See ladies and gentlemen, surprises aren't always good. They can backfire and cost you 11 dollars. I think I need some Mountain Dew. How does one know when he is addicted to said pop? And when does "caffeine keeps me awake" kick in in one's lifetime? I'm toast when that comes. I'll be going through withdrawals. I'm gonna do something cool tomorrow, you watch! september FOURTEEN Sunday, bloody Sunday. Played tennis. Found out I can play baseball (and dominate). Went to Omaha for dinner. Played some poker. Got homework done (actual reading!). Did two loads of laundry. Watched a couple Seinfelds. I cannot believe I did this much in a day. All after sleeping in. Sad day for the Williams sisters and Bennifer. Who coulda seen that one coming? Go buy the Wilco CD people. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Brilliant. Also, Big C's got a site now...check that out...Chris's page Tomorrow's agenda: Photo ABCs 2...should be a blast. An NY Times speaker is at the Union at 230. Then Rooney in Lawrence tomorrow night. Ha, yeah right! Mom and dad, are you going to the KU-Nebraska game?Questions of the day: Candy corn or corn candy? In XOXO, which is which, kisses and hugs?
september THIRTEEN Didn't cover the spread. That's about all the bad news you could find in Lincoln today. Good, hard fought game. And a win to boot.
Saw Chris and Dad. Lucky punks got some club seats like bigshots...Nice going. Went to Brian's tonight. AFTER the cops came and broke up
the party on a "noise complaint." Now we're watching Office Space. Can it get any better? Well, maybe if tonight's game was against Texas.
But we'll just deal with that when it comes. I'm going to Lawrence for the KU-Husker game. That was decided today. And I'm STILL contemplating
a last-minute trip on Tuesday to see Rooney in the "city that never sleeps." (In Kansas, that is.) T-shirts and ties. Good attire for a game.
The "List" page will be up soon and officially replace the symbol page. That WAS cool, but it has lived its life and now it's time to retire. Pictures from today will be up tomorrow. Enjoy this fine evening. Stay up late. Peace. Quiet!
september ELEVEN Today is mellow.
september TEN It was wet on the way to class. And I had 4 classes. I didn't get home until 615. Today sucked and I'm in a bad mood tonight. Something
has to change here. I'm bored. More on that some other time...No. Wow. I am really frustrated with stuff tonight. I'm getting mad just sitting
here. I need to listen to some music and read. Bye............................................................................................
..............................................................................................................................................
OK, breaks done. It was two minutes. Inspiration. Creativity. Variety. Three things my life lacks in a big way right now. I'm changing. Tomorrow
is different. I'm going to Borders. I need to see something new and meet someone new. I'm not sitting with anyone I know in any classes. I need a
few new friends. I miss Omaha people. and others I don't talk very often anymore. I'm calling Mike Ciaccio. That doesn't cure my bad mood for TONIGHT
though. I need to tear some paper. I'm not ever watching TV again. I hate it.
september NINE I graduated. Enough about that. Lots of rain today. Had a wonderful experience at Kinko's this morning. You think they would hire people that
knew how to run the copy machines, but no. They must be too expensive or something, so you're stuck with this fat dude who just lets you do it
on your own and then is like "oops, sorry." when it messes up and forgets to offer you a refund. brilliant. so that was a bad start. then i was
soaked and cold all day long. no good either. good reviews on the alphabet project from the professor brought the spirits up some. then i had
another trip to Omaha. Went and saw the parents. (Dad, the check's in the mail. Mom, maybe something for you too. Chris, I'll think about it.)
Then over to The Pad. John Matt and Ned's house. And Hercules. (pictures from the trip, new shots of the fellas.)
Heard it throught he grape vine that the place to be is the 800 block north of dodge at 41st Street on Friday. Just a rumor though. Drove home.
Went concert shopping. 1. Rooney in Lawrence next week. 2. Saves the Day at Sokol October 5...3) The Starting Line at Knickerbockers on October 9.
AND don't forget Something Corporate and Good Charlotte in Cedar Rapids next Friday night. Man I wish I had the money and a car to get around.
More rain tomorrow. Slosh, slosh. september EIGHT S.T.O.P. Class Day 1: It wasn't half bad. Sure the time went slow, but the people were cool. Jake from Fort Calhoun and Sarrah (yes, that's
two R's) from Central--What's up? See ya tomorrow. I have officially learned that to stay alive until the age 25 I must be a more responsible
driver. Thanks. I could pay my brother $50 bucks to tell me that. And he would probably give some of the money back. Jeez. I'll be back in the
River City tomorrow for the second installment. Had some Taco Bell on the way home. Good work. Then I studied until right now (3:18a.m.) I did
finally finish my journalism assignment. Check out the results of that on the "symbols" page, which by the way is
slated for a name change as soon as I can think of something else to put on there. I actually think it's going to be the permanent home of
the "I Hate List." That little beauty is a remnant of the days in journalism at North, and it basically writes itself. Try starting your own.
Or you could join ours. Come up with a title for yourself (something like "Pimp Master Supreme" should work) and send a LIST OF THE THINGS YOU HATE
in an email to me september SEVEN Sunday. Got up in the early afternoon. Checked the polls first thing. 18. Woo. Went and took some pictures around campus. Actually avoided
football for the most part all day. I just can't get excited about the NFL. Came back and watched tennis. Then
went to the mall for about an hour. Out to dinner with Adam's parents. (Thanks Stolls!) Now, I should finish some homework and do some
reading for a while. For you: Go see the movie "Spellbound." Funny documentary about the National Spelling Bee. It's playing at The Ross
in Lincoln and at Oakview I think in O-Town. Thoughts to ponder for the evening. 1. Why can't they make bathroom soap that smells any better?
What really goes in the ramen noodle flavoring? Do I want to know? I have S.T.O.P class tomorrow. I can hardly wait. P.S.-- She liked the presents.
september SIX HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBEY!! So, Joe Dailey looks like he's for real. The first half sucked. After that, though,
Super Mario took over and then Utah State went down the tubes. So much for them.
Now we can talk about Penn State. Or laugh about them, whatever you prefer. Ned moved
into his new house, good for Ned. Big party on Friday, I'm psyched. Went to Nate's and played
some poker tonight. On to the finals for Andy Roddick. And Mandy Moore rejoices. So do I. CBS--Mandy TV 3pm Sunday. september FIVE Friday. This week FLEW by. Crazy. Went to the Goodwill after dinner tonight to get
stuff for the husker game tomorrow. Get this...Red shirt. Red shorts. Black tie. Black
shoes. Red Hawaiian print "Plattsmouth Chrysler" hat. You have to see it to believe it.
Even after the short week, I'm tired, so I'm just hangin around tonight. Not much else.
Signed up for intramural tennis. Look out Serena. AND, (how could I forget this) according
to Tom Shatel from the OWH, Andy Roddick may be at the Husker-Penn State game next weekend.
Do you realize that this means MANDY MOORE COULD BE IN LINCOLN. (*sigh*) I'm speechless. september FOUR Well, it's Thirsty Thursday here on campus. Wow, big deal.
I ADDED THE PEOPLE PAGE. ARE YOU ON IT YET?
The go carts and mini-golf was OK, but wow, the frat that
put it on was a bunch of losers. And I was there. Must make
me one too. Whatever. No other excitement today around campus
Kicked some field goals at the Rec tonight with Adam. I think
I see some playing time in my near future. As long as they let
me use the tee everytime. I'm sure that will fly. Saturday is
Abbey's birthday and so you should all call her and wish her luck
in her 20th year on Earth. (She will be 19. Think about it.) OK,
bedtime. If you're in Lincoln this weekend, come over. september THREE more updates today...added something new to the symbols
page, check that. otherwise, i'm just hangin' out here waiting for the
weekend to come. huskers and troy state, joe dailey is playing. can't beat that for excitement. (well, you probably could if you aren't a loser.) unlimited mini-golf and go carts
tomorrow at this fun-plex wannabe in L-Town...i'm all over that.
